Beyond the Horizon

The tranquility of a quiet morning waking up to a silent stretch of water is what caught the attention of my camera. I rendered this photo black and white to create a mood which resembled the wandering of an undecided mind who would not distinguish, or care to distinguish, colours, and instead would rather focus on guessing what lies far there in the grey, outstretched horizon.
A horizon is what captures attention and mind, as it carries unknowns, a lot of mysteries. Setting a horizon, disturbed or undisturbed by photographer’s choice of composition, would infuse the photo with a mystical sense. It evokes curiosity and holds viewers interested and entertained, or maybe puzzled and unsure. Horizon is a dividing line whose presence touches the very conflicting elements of our nature: the longing of discovering unknowns and the certainty of surrounding but mundane known reality. A foreground is needed, of course, to remind viewers where they stand with respect to the mystery of horizon.
